Buford advanced to its eighth straight state championship game with a 27-3 win over Cartersville in the Class AAAA semifinals. Commerce, however, lost in its bid for its first trip to the state finals in 14 years in a 28-7 loss to Irwin County in Class A Public.

Irwin County's Jakyron Young rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Indians to a come-from-behind 28-7 win over Commerce Friday night in the semifinals of the Class A Public playoffs.

Buford football may feature a team of postseason veterans, but the Wolves know all that experience will count for little if they cannot find a way to contain a freshman tonight.
