Six may not be classified as a "lucky" number -- but don't try telling that to the six area football teams that are still alive in the state playoffs.

Just ask Jefferson football players and coaches about the challenge ahead Friday night against Dodge County and they speak in the kind of tones that tell you more than the words themselves.

After a stunning opening round of the state football playoffs, only six teams in northeast Georgia remain standing. But while the quantity of teams has greatly diminished, the quality of those left more than makes up for the losses.
