Bucs' Garcia out against Falcons; Griese to start
Brian Griese is eager to pick up where he left off for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers three years ago. The veteran quarterback begins a second stint as the team's starter Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, replacing an injured and ineffective Jeff Garcia in the home opener for the defending NFC South champions.

UNLV stuns No. 15 Arizona State in OT
Malo Taumua blocked a field goal to lift UNLV to a 23-20 overtime upset of No. 15 Arizona State on Saturday night. Taumua's block on a 35-yard field goal attempt by Thomas Weber came after Kyle Watson kicked a 20-yard field goal on the Rebels' overtime possession.

No. 1 USC rolls over No. 5 Ohio State
Southern California turned the game of the year into another Trojans' victory march. Mark Sanchez threw four touchdown passes, Joe McKnight rushed for 105 yards on 12 carries, and the top-ranked Trojans crushed No. 5 Ohio State 35-3 Saturday night in a matchup of two of college football's most successful programs.

Wharton wins Garrison Memorial 100 at LNS
An old friend to Lanier National Speedway felt right at home Saturday night in the first annual ASA Southeast Series James Garrison Memorial 100. Former LNS track champion Chris Wharton assumed the lead on Lap 28 from Shane Sawyer and then held off Paul Kelly and Kyle Fowler the rest of the way to get the win. Wharton also had to endure 13 cautions, including five in the final 18 laps.

Tigers get ugly win over Bulldogs in defensive struggle
Only a former defensive coordinator such as Tommy Tuberville could have enjoyed this. Wes Byrum kicked a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter and that was all No. 9 Auburn needed to defeat Mississippi State 3-2 on Saturday night.
