Saints eyeing playoffs, head to Atlanta Monday night
The New Orleans Saints already rallied once this season. They'll have to do it again to get back to the playoffs. Coming off a devastating loss to division rival Tampa Bay, the Saints find themselves in a most precarious position, probably needing to win their last four games to send their season into January for the second year in a row.

Michael Puckett scored 15 points to lead Winston-Salem State to a 67-61 victory over Georgia State on Saturday night. Darius Floyd had 14 points and Jamal Durham finished with 11 points for the Rams (2-5), who shot nearly 45 percent in snapping a four-game losing streak.

East Hall, Gainesville girls advance to Lanierland semifinals
East Hall used a 19-0 run to start the third quarter en route to a dominating 46-24 win over Chestatee Saturday in the first round of the Jackson EMC Lanierland girls basketball tournament at the Johnson gym. The Gainesville girls also moved on with a 53-43 win over Johnson.

Lady Elephants win defensive battle over East Hall
Gainesville girls basketball coach Manson Hill was expecting a tough game against defending Class AAA state champion and arch-rival East Hall Tuesday night. Yet he and the Lady Elephants also went to the East Hall gym looking for a win. Hill did not leave disappointed, as his Lady Elephants came away with a tough 44-39 victory.

Ware shoots East Hall past rival Gainesville
With the graduation of Walter Hill and the loss of Ken Wise to injury, East Hall boys basketball coach Joe Dix has been looking for someone to step up and lead a young Vikings team. Senior Dedric Ware made his bid Tuesday night, scoring 19 points, including 10 straight at one point in the first half, to lead the Vikings to a 69-62 win over arch-rival Gainesville at the East Hall gym.
