Veterans Day seemed an appropriate day to name the newest city park for Major Kevin Jenrette, a National Guard officer from Lula who was killed in action last year in Afghanistan.

Oliver wants to avoid late tax penalty
Hall County Commissioners expect to vote Thursday on twice a year tax bills, approved once again last Tuesday by the voters, but Hall County Commission Chairman Tom Oliver said at the Monday work session he wants to bypass the total 10 percent penalty if taxpayers cannot pay on time.
