Hall County cancels prep sports for Friday

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Schools Superintendent William Schofield announced Friday that all athletic events scheduled for Friday have been canceled.

"The National Weather Service has advised (us) that freezing precipitation may begin in our area between 5 and 6 p.m. (Friday)," Schofield said. "With this in mind, the Hall County School District will cancel all planned athletic events."

This includes all basketball games, home and away, as well as at least one wrestling tournament where Hall County teams were expected to participate in Pickens County.

Schofield said games scheduled for Saturday will be discussed Saturday morning.
