LARENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Indianapolis Indians 2-1 on Wednesday at Coolray Field despite being no-hit for the first six innings.
Indians starting pitcher Jeremy Powell carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning but Gwinnett's Barbaro Canizares broke it up in the seventh innings.
The Braves will go for the series win Thursday.
Gwinnett (24-28) remains in second place in the International League South 5 1/2 games behind Durham. Indianapolis (27-26) remains in third place in the IL West and seven games behind first place Columbus.
After Canizares broke up Powell's no-hit bid, Mitch Jones belted his 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot to left that put the G-Braves ahead of the Indians, 2-1.
