TMC students arrested for crashing soccer game

CLEVELAND - Eight Truett McConnell students are in trouble after  they  dressed up in superhero costumes and interrupted a White County High School soccer game Tuesday night.

White County Sheriff's Capt. Jim Couch said the eight told them they were bored and wanted something to do.

Couch said the White County girls soccer team was in the middle of a game with Gainesville High.

"Four of them leaped the fence and ran toward the goalie of the Gainesville team," Couch said.  "They had a conversation with her and then ran into the woods."

According to Couch, they were pursued by some of the coaches and staff and even some of the students of the high school.  Couch said the students, two females and six males,  range in age from 18 to 21 and have been charged with interfering with a public school function.

Couch said this is a misdemeanor, but is more severe in nature than a simple misdemeanor.  The incident remains under investigation by the White County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of school officials.
