ATLANTA - Georgia officials announced the latest round of schools selected to participate in the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s (GDA) Georgia Grown Test Kitchen, and Apalachee High School in Barrow County is one of them.
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black announced the five Monday. Renfroe Middle School in Decatur, Hickory Hills Elementary in Marietta, Clear Creek Elementary in Bartow County and Georgia State University Panther Dining are the others.
This is the second year for the program, which promotes local and healthy eating in schools across the state by supplying school nutrition directors with healthy recipes using Georgia Grown commodities.
"We are showing the ease that comes with purchasing local products for school systems, while improving the nutritional value for students," Black said in a press statement.
