Gainesville Dental Group will open its doors to deliver free dental care through its annual event, Dentists with Heart, on Friday, March 18, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. In its 8th year, the event will be held at 1026 Thompson Bridge Road. Gainesville Dental Group hosts the event each year as a way to give back to community members.
Dentists, hygienists and staff from Gainesville Dental Group generously donate their time, supplies and expertise to help make this event possible.
“Last year, we served nearly 100 patients,” said Tiffany Crowe, director of operations at Gainesville Dental Group.
It’s an event that the Gainesville Dental Group team looks forward to each year.
Donna Shewbert, a hygienist at Gainesville Dental Group, said, “It makes me happy to provide a service to someone in need and see them truly touched.”
Another hygienist on the team, Becca Goodwin, said, “We are here to serve others, and Dentists with Heart is a way for me to do just that.”
Those interested in receiving dental care should arrive early to receive a number and a time to come back for their appointment. Numbers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Patients come from across North Georgia to attend the clinic and have the option to choose from a dental cleaning or a treatment. Over the years, the Gainesville Dental Group team has provided services from x-rays and tooth extractions to denture repairs and fillings.
“There is an ever-present need for dental care in our community,” said Dr. Mike Vetter, a dentist at Gainesville Dental Group. “People care about the health of their mouth, but many can’t afford the insurance or out-of-pocket expense for regular exams or treatments. We created Dentists with Heart to help meet this growing need.”
The event is supported by two local restaurants that donate food and drinks. Johhny’s BBQ provides lunch at the clinic, and Longstreet Cafe brings tea and water throughout the day.
Dr. Vetter added, “We are very grateful for the ongoing support of Johnny’s BBQ and Longstreet Cafe. They share in our commitment to re-invest in our communities and give back to something much larger than ourselves.”
