Two Demorest girls reported missing early Monday morning have been found safe in Walker County in Northwest Georgia, according to the Habersham County Sheriff's Office.
Lt. Matt Wurtz issued a statement Monday morning, outlining the course of events related to the disappearance of Estephanie Negrete Ramirez, 17, and her sister Celesta Negrete Ramirez, 6. Wurtz said the girls' mother called the sheriff's office and deputies responded to the home on Kim Loop Road in Demorest around 1:10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11.

"Estephanie left her phone at the residence and did not take it with her," Wurtz said in the statement. "The mother told deputies that she was concerned about the recent mental status of Estephanie."
The GBI issued a Levi's Call Amber Alert just before 5 a.m. alerting the public to the girls' disappearance.
Wurtz said the Walker County Sheriff's Office called Habersham County around 7:45 a.m. to say the girls' had been found.
"...they had located the two sisters on the side of the road in their county and [they were] not injured," Wurtz said.
The mother traveled to Walker County to pick up the younger girl and the teen was arrested on a charge of interference with child custody.
"Estephanie will be transported to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office where her mental status will be evaluated," Wurtz said.
