GAINESVILLE — Milton outscored the Gainesville Red team 150-134 to capture the Big Red Shootout team title on Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Club.
The one-day,14-team match, used the Stableford scoring system -- instead of counting the total number of strokes taken, scoring points were based on the number of strokes taken at each hole. On Monday, golfers were given 8 points for an eagle (two-under-par), 4 points for a birdie (one-under par), 2 points for a par (even), and 1 for a bogey (one-over-par).
Buford's Jackson Buchanan was the high medalist, scoring the most points and edging Milton's Will Jones, 46-45, for the individual win. Gainesville's Sam Patterson finished third with 41 points.
Dawson County finished in fourth place, lead by No. 1 golfer, Andrew Hughes, who finished fourth in the high medalist category.
Buford finished sixth overall, while the Gainesville White team was eighth, and Habersham Central was ninth. Lakeview Academy finished 11, and Cherokee Bluff tied with Habersham Central's JV team for 12th.
