Baseball scoreboard: Pickens clinches 7-3A title; EaFo, Lakeview get non-region wins

By AccessWDUN Staff

JASPER, Ga. — James Tilley tossed a no-hitter as Pickens evened their Region 7-3A series with a 2-0 win over Lumpkin County on Thursday.

The win for the Class 3A second-ranked Dragons (23-4, 15-2 Region 7-3A) clinched the region title. Lumpkin County (19-6, 10-4 Region 7-3A) dropped to third place with the loss.

Tilley faced just two batters over the minimum and fanned 10 while walking just one. He retired the final 11 batters of the game.

Adian Rogers was strong for the Indians, pitching a complete game and allowing just two runs, only one earned, on four hits. But it wasn't enough.

Pickens scored a run in the second on the only Lumpkin County error of the game. The Dragons added a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.

The two teams will close out their series on Friday in Dahlonega.

EAST FORSYTH 6,
DAWSON COUNTY 4

East Forsyth built a five-run lead into the fourth inning and then had to hold a furious Tigers' charge for a win on the road Thursday.

The Broncos got a quick start with three runs in the first, highlighted by an RBI single from Will Moffit. They added two more in the fourth on a two-run home run from Trey Farr.

Bradlee Hamby got the win for East Forsyth (15-10), going four innings and allowing one run on five hits.

Joshua Priest took the loss for Dawson County. Priest went 3 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on five hits while striking out five.

Dawson County cut the lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth and scored three in the fifth on RBI hits from Trey Harvey, Davis Glass, and Elijah Odom to pull within 5-4. But that's as close as the Tigers could get.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 14,
HORIZON CHRISTIAN 4 (5 inn)

James Cobb pitched a complete-game great game and Hunter Williams, Henry Stewart, and Logan Stanley all drove in two runs to lead the Lions (9-3) to a GIAA region win on Thursday.

Stewart reached base all four times and Ricky Brown reached base three times and scored two runs. Asher Stephens had a single and scored twice and Brock Graham and Jarrett Atwill both scored two runs.
