ARLINGTON, Texas — Less than a week after earning the first major league win of his career, Gainesville’s Reese Olson will see if he can make it a win streak.

The former North Hall standout will take on the AL West-leading Texas Rangers on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. (EST).

It will be Olson’s biggest test since taking on the powerful Atlanta Braves lineup two weeks ago.

The Rangers have the third-best record in MLB (49-31) and have scored the most runs in the league with a whopping 478 (5.97 runs/game). They also own the highest batting average in the league (.273), are tied for sixth in home runs with 109, and are second in total extra base hits with 293.

Olson (1-2) will be making his sixth appearance and fifth start since being called up from Toledo at the beginning of June. He is sporting a 4.74 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings. He has walked just six and surrendered four home runs, but three of those came against the Braves in a loss.

In his last start on June 24, Olson went 5 1/3 innings allowing just one run while scattering four hits in a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. He fanned a career-high 9 and walked just one.
