GAINESVILLE - Hall County now has a jury pool that reflects the 17% of the county's population that is Hispanic, but, the work is not done.

Chief deputy court clerk Charles Baker says the jury commission will meet next week to seek expert help in finding more Latinos for the jury list.

"...to talk to a (public relations) firm about letting them go out and try to recruit more Latinos that would be eligible for the jury pool," Baker said.

In October, a Hall County Superior Court Judge ordered that the jury pool be revised to accurately relfect the county's Latino population.

Baker, who says it will be revised every six months, said the initial effort was "very, very exhaustive and time-consuming. The jury commissioners met frequently and, you know, we worked right on through the holidays."
