Georgia Southern past Appalachian St.

BOONE, N.C. - Julius Jenkins had 27 points and Sean Peterson 22 to lead Georgia Southern in a 101-89 victory over Appalachian State Monday night. <br>

Georgia Southern (8-5, 2-1 Southern) shot 52 percent and was 10-of-20 from 3-point range. <br>
<br>
Noah Brown was 5-of-8 from 3-point range and had 25 points to lead Appalachian State (4-7, 0-2). The Mountaineers shot 54 percent, including 9-for-15 from 3-point range, but had 23 turnovers. <br>
<br>
Jenkins, Peterson and Terry Williams each hit three 3-pointers. Williams finished with 12 points and five assists. Peterson also had five assists. <br>
<br>
Jonathan Butler had 18 points and six assists for Appalachian State. while Donald Payne added 17 points and Josh Shehan added 12 and nine rebounds. <br>
<br>
Appalachian State made 16 of 26 shots in the first half, but still trailed 53-46.
