GAINESVILLE - Work on redrawing North Hall elementary attendance zones begins in earnest next week.

The first meeting of the North Hall Elementary Redistricting Committee will be held next Monday.

"A part of this process involves asking some parents and teachers to come in...and look at enrollment projections, look at the maps and location of students with us," said Dr. Dennis Fordham, Hall County Schools Superintendent.

Students should expect to follow the new attendance lines beginning with the next school year. Schools expected to be impacted include Sardis, Lanier, Riverbend, Mount Vernon and Wauka Mountain elementary schools. Middle school and high school attendance zones will not be affected.

School officials say the growth of the county school population is the reason for the changes.

The advisory committee is made up of parents and staff. Public hearings will be held before any plan is approved.
