March referendum in Dahlonega on Sunday booze sales

DAHLONEGA - People in Dahlonega will vote later this year on whether to legalize Sunday beer and wine sales.

The city council decided by a unanimous vote to put the question to a vote.

The referendum will be held in March.

If it passes, it would clear the way for beer and wine sales on Sunday but in restaurants only.

Restaurant owners say Sunday sales of beer and wine would help keep tourists in Dahlonega on weekends, adding revenue to the city.
