Special night for one hospital volunteer

GAINESVILLE - Tuesday was a special night for the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary and, in particular, one of its members.

The medical center is celebrating its 50th anniversary and Tuesday night honored Nell Wiegand for 50 years of service to the auxiliary.

Wiegand was honored with the establishment of the Nell Whelchel Wiegand Patient Friend Award.

The event was to have been held last September 11, but was postponed after the terrorists attacks.
