Hall sues Flowery Branch

GAINESVILLE - Hall County has sued the city of Flowery Branch over the annexation of more than 400 acres. The county contends the annexation was illegal.

County commissioner Roger Cole says the county had no choice in the matter.

Cole said on WDUN NEWS TALK 550's Morning Talk Friday "in many cases, cities annex land without telling the county. They do it in spite of clear violation of state law and they do it in clear violation of the county's comprehensive land use plan."

The suit alleges that one of the tracts involved was not contiguous to the Flowery Branch city limits at the time the others were annexed as required by law. Efforts to get comment from Flowery Branch officials have been unsuccessful.
