GAINESVILLE - You can now take a journey back in time to find out what Hall County was like in 1930.

The 1930 Georgia and Hall County Census is available at the main branch of the Hall County Library on Academy Street in downtown Gainesville.

Library Executive Director Susan Stewart says she wasn't expecting the information to become available until later in the year.

According to the documents, most people in Hall County in 1930 rented their homes at a rate of between five and $65 a month; their life expectancy was 59.7 years; and, the population was 30,313.

The census is on more than 800 rolls of microfilm and can be viewed only at the library headquarters downtown.
