GAINESVILLE - The annual Head of the Chattahoochee Regatta is coming to Lake Lanier next weekend - and is expected to attract more than 6,000 people.

The event, co-sponsored by the Lake Lanier Rowing Club and the Atlanta Rowing Club, attracts more participants than any other on the lake. It will be held at the Lake Lanier Olympic Center on Clarks Bridge Road.

The two-day event begins Saturday.

This year trophies and medals will be awarded in front of the new grandstands in the finish tower area. There will be four award cermonies on Saturday and two on Sunday.

The Head of the Chattahoochee is a US-Rowing registered regatta.
