Participants stood in a circle, introduced themselves, and spoke their personal feelings about the push toward war with Iraq.
The vigil was sponsored by the Peace Corner Group of Gainesville which earlier in the day joined a Women's Peace Gathering in Dahlonega which was organized by the Georgia Mountains Unitarian Universalist Church.
About 50 people reportedly attended that demonstration, holding signs and singing for about one-and-a-half hours at the intersection of Highway 60 and South Park Street. An impromptu group of about eight or nine people gathered across the street calling for people to support the president and troops.
