GPD ready to begin annual Citizens Police Academy

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police Department will launch its fourth Citizens Police Academy next month. <br>
<br>
Chief Frank Hooper says this year's six-week program, designed to educate citizens with all areas of law enforcement administration and operations, will include classes on criminal procedures. <br>
<br>
Students will also participate in a patrol "ride along." <br>
<br>
Enrollment is open to all residents of Gainesville and Hall County who are at least 21, and each applicant shall be subject to a criminal history background check and must have a clear criminal history (exceptions are minor traffic offenses).<br>
<br>
Classes begin July 10 and will be held Thursdays for six weeks from 7:00-9:00 each night. <br>
