The workers are make permanent repairs to a section of railing that was damaged in a traffic accident last Thursday. They resumed their work Monday morning and will return at 9:00 Tuesday morning after the concrete they poured Monday has had time to set.
"One lane of the Bell's Mill Bridge will be closed (during the work)," said GDOT spokeswoman Teri Pope. "We will be using pilot cars and flaggers to get people across the bridge."
Pope says "two concrete pillars and approximately 30 feet of steel handrail" are being replaced.
Temporary repairs were made shortly after the accident, which involved a head-on collision between two vehicles - one of which struck the railing.
