GAINESVILLE - Summer is finally feeling like summer in northeast Georgia - after an unusually cool, wet first two-and-a-half months of the season.

Hot, humid and rainless days have dominated the weather in Gainesville and elsewhere in the region since the middle of the month.

By contrast, all of June and July and the first part of August were highlighted by above average rainfall and temperatures that failed to reach 90.

Since August 14, however, there have been eight 90+ days and until Thursday - no rainfall for eleven days. Nearly .70 of an inch fell Thursday.

Tuesday was the tenth straight day of no measurable rainfall in Gainesville, the longest rainless stretch since March.
