GAINESVILLE - There was no let down for the Riverside Military Academy football team Friday night.

The Eagles, who were coming off an emotional upset win over Mount de Sales last week, jumped on Monroe Academy early and then cruised to a 38-20 win at Maginnis Field.

After swapping fumbles, Reginald Robinson gave the Eagles a 7-0 lead with a 23-yard run. They put the game away in the second quarter when Carl Robinson scored twice to push Riverside's lead to 21-0.

Riverside (2-0) would run the lead to 38-6 in the fourth quarter. Monroe Academy would add a couple of late scores to make it more respectable.

Riverside coach Doug Dixon said they talked about putting last week behind them.

"We reminded the kids that we only beat Monroe last year by scoring in the final 28 seconds so they understood we couldn't take them lightly. I was pleased with how we came out and got going early," Dixon said.

Senior Eagles QB David Elam, threw for 73 yards, rushed for 62 more with two TDs and kicked a 41-yard field goal.

Chris Seymour caught two passes for 22 yards and ran for 24 with one TD. Robinson finished with 54 yards on 11 carries.

Riverside will travel to Monticello to take on Piedmont Academy next week.
