Meeting in Gainesville on Episcopal bishop controversy

ATLANTA - Bishop J. Neil Alexander of the Episcopal Church's Diocese of Atlanta will hold a public meeting in Gainesville next Sunday to report on the denomination's recent convention at which the church's first openly gay bishop was elected.

Clergy and lay deputies to the convention will join Bishop Alexander at the meeting. Two other meetings will be held elsewhere in north Georgia in the coming weeks. Bishop Alexander and the others will also answer questions about their report at each of the meetings.

The Gainesville meeting be held next Sunday at 2:30 at Grace Church.

Other meetings are planned in Atlanta and LaGrange.

The Atlanta meeting will be Saturday September 20 at the Cathedral of St. Philip at 10 a.m. The LaGrange meeting will be held Saturday, October 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church.
