GAINESVILLE - Qualifying begins next Monday for this year's Gainesville City Election and the longest-serving member of the Gainesville City Council said Wednesday he will be a candidate for re-election.

Bob Hamrick has been on the council since 1969 and has served four terms as mayor. So far, Hamrick is the only announced candidate for the Ward Two post.

In all, three city council seats and three seats on the city school board will be up for grabs this year.
