FLOWERY BRANCH - Candidates can begin qualifying Monday for the special elections to be held in Flowery Branch March 2.

Qualifying will be held at city hall each day Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The elections will be held to fill the unexpired terms of Mayor Gene Reed and councilman Ron Petrie. They resigned within days of each other less than three weeks into the new year.

Reed said he was doing so for health reasons. Petrie never said why he was stepping down. Since New Year's Eve, the city clerk and city manager have also departed.
