Murder charge expected in fatal police chase

JEFFERSON - A felony murder charge was to be filed Monday against a South Carolina man whose car crashed into another at Banks Crossing a week ago, killing a 70-year-old Winder woman and critically injuring her husband.

35-year-old Carson Chandler Bolt of Greenville, South Carolina, was being chased by Jackson County sheriff's deputies at the time.

They had tried to stop the car after receiving a lookout from Gwinnett County Police who had tried to stop Bolt on suspicion of DUI.

Less serious charges have already been filed.

Meanwhile, Jackson County Sheriff Stan Evans said his office will review whether the deputies involved in the chase followed procedure.
