New homes in 2003 in Hall nearly 1,500

GAINESVILLE - Nearly 1,500 new, single-family homes were cleared for construction last year in Gainesville and Hall County.

Gainesville-Hall County Building Services says 137 were approved for construction inside the city limits, while more than 1,228 were okayed for the county.

In addition, the report says ten permits for new homes were approved for the city in December for work expected to cost $1.2 million.

In the county, 100 new homes were okayed in December, with an estimated construction cost of $13.7 million.
