HARTWELL - Another county commission in northeast Georgia has opted to place a copy of the Ten Commandments in the courthouse.

The vote by the Hart County commission Tuesday night went against a recommendation from the county attorney, Walter Gordon.

The Anderson Independent quotes Gordon as telling the commission if the matter ends up in court, the commission's chances of prevailing are "very slim."

But, the commission, after nearly three hours of discussion voted unanimously for the motion.

On Monday, the Barrow County Board of Commissioners voted to continue their court fight aimed at keeping a copy of the Ten Commandments on display in the courthouse in Winder. The commission will loan county money to the private group financing the court fight. The group's leader promised the money will be repaid within six months.

The vote Tuesday night by the Hart County commission came just hours after the U.S. Supreme Court decided to rule on whether such displays on public property are constiutional.
