Anna Gines' says her retirement is effective April 1, 2005.
"It has been a great pleasure and an honor for me to have served in this position for the past fifteen years," Gines said in announcing her decision to her board of directors.
Under her leadership, United Way of Hall County grew from; a two-person operation to an agency that now has a staff of eleven.
The United Way umbrella has expanded to include not only partner agencies but also the funded programs of 2-1-1 and Hands on Hall.
In 1999, a permanent home for United Way was procured when the current location at 527 Oak Street was purchased. Since coming to Gainesville from United Way in Savannah, Gines has seen the organization's annual fundraising campaign grow from a goal of $860,000 to its current level of almost two million dollars.
"Finding someone of Anna's caliber will be difficult," said United Way chairman Tom Mickle. "With the assistance of a community representative search committee, we will strive to continue to grow on the strong foundation she has built."
