Drug bust nets meth, two arrests

GAINESVILLE - Two Gainesville men have been arrested on on drug charges following an undercover investigation.

James Wayne Bernard and Michael Kevin Smith, both 28, were arrested in a parking lot at Brown's Bridge and McEver roads by officers with the Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad.

Charges against each include trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of the drug. They also face a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. In addition, Smith is charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Agents say he was armed with a semi-automatic pistol when he was arrested.

Agents say they confiscated 32 grams of methamphetamine worth $4,160 along with less than an ounce of marijuana.
