GC dedicates eleven new Smart Classrooms

OAKWOOD - The Gainesville College Foundation recently hosted a luncheon and dedication ceremony to honor the donors who have made it possible for Gainesville College to add eleven new Smart Classrooms.

A Smart Classroom, as defined by the Gainesville College faculty members who use them as a teaching tool, is a classroom equipped with computers, overhead projection systems and other technical equipment that create an environment of effective teaching and learning.

The Smart Classrooms feature an instructor's computer which is linked to the Internet as well as equipped with a variety of teaching programs. One of the innovative aspects of the Smart Classroom is the "SmartBoard" which looks like the traditional white board, but everything that the instructor writes is stored and students can access the class notes from the Internet after class. This allows students to focus on the teaching rather than note taking.

The following 11 classrooms were dedicated:
