DAHLONEGA - A new shopping center, to be anchored by a Home Depot, is planned in Lumpkin County.

The complex will be located on the south side of Dahlonega at the intersection of Georgia Highways 60 and 400.

Maxwell Properties, Inc., expects to close on the property and begin work in February 2005.

The shopping center will include about 20 shops and two out parcels , including The Home Depot, which, alone, is expected to cover 102,000 square feet and create 200 jobs.

Gary Wert, vice president of construction for Maxwell Properties, said the complex will include entrances from both Georgia 60 and Long Branch Road.

Lumpkin County Economic Development Director Bruce Abraham said, "Home Depot's decision to locate here underscores all the great things happening now in Lumpkin County. This development takes Lumpkin County to the next level."
