The segment in question runs from the Commerce Bypass to State Route 335 in Nicholson and the project will upgrade the road to a four-lane divided highway.
Work is scheduled to begin early next spring with grading for the "new" lanes, according to Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) officials. They say there will be little disruption to motorists as crews will be working in the "new" lanes of US 441.
Once the new lanes are completely built traffic will be shifted to use them and crews will upgrade the existing lanes of US 441. Construction will take approximately 3 years, weather permitting.
The estimated construction cost of this project is $19 million to E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. of Snellville.
