DAHLONEGA - A man arrested last year and charged with trying to lure female real estate agents to vacant houses in Hall and several other northeast Georgia counties has been indicted on the charges he faces in Lumpkin County.

George Michael Sampson was arrested in September after he allegedly contacted a Cleveland real estate agent and asked to see a house in a remote area of White County.

Investigators said at the time he may have been involved in such schemes in Lumpkin, Hall, White, Dawson and Habersham counties.

The Lumpkin County indictment was one of about 40 returned by the current grand jury in Dahlonega.

A spokeswoman for the district attorney's office in Dahlonega said Thursday the indictment charges Sampson with aggravated assault, simple assault, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
