Dead gay teen's mom to speak in Dahlonega

GAINESVILLE - The mother of a Wyoming teenager who was murdered five years ago because he was gay is headed to northeast Georgia for a speaking engagement.

Judy Shepard, mother to Matthew Shepard, who was beaten and killed in 1998, will speak at North Georgia College & State University in Dahloenga later this month.

Shepard's March 25 speech will focus on anti-violence and how to make communities safer.
