GAINESVILLE - Georgia DOT has awarded Sunbelt Structures the contract to reconstruct U.S. 441 from Tallulah Falls to the southern city limits of Clayton in Rabun County - a $65 million, three-year project.

The 10.1-mile project will upgrade the section of the road to a four-lane divided highway.

Construction will begin this fall with grading for the "new" lanes.

Once work on the new lanes is finished traffic will be shifted to them and crews will begin upgrading the existing lanes.
