Ten percent tuition hike facing Georgia college students

ATLANTA - A 10 percent tuition hike is in the works for Gainesville College and North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega - and all other public colleges and universities in the state.<br> <br> That would mean $147 a year for student at two-year colleges, such as Gainesville College, and, $232 a year for students at four-year schools other than research institutions, such as Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, where the tuition hike would total $337 a year.<br> <br> The unprecedented mid-year tuition hike is planned as the state university system struggles with its budget in the faceg of cuts ordered by the governor.<br> <br> (The Associated Press contributed to this story.)
