GAINESVILLE - Planning is underway for the annual MLK Day observance in Gainesville.

The Newtown Florist Club, which annually sponsors a march and rally to mark the observance of Martin Luther King Junior's birthday, is hosting a couple of events next weekend leading up to Monday's observance, according to Newtown President Faye Bush.

On Saturday, a human rights workshop, "Human Rights 101," will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Summit Street.

Sunday, a production of the play "A Raisin in the Sun" will be presented at the E.E. Butler Center on Athens Highway at 6:00.

The annual King Day March will be held next Monday, starting at 1:00 at the corner of E.E. Butler Parkway and Washington Street. It will culminate with a rally at the Butler center at 3:00.
