Gainesville man dies in early morning traffic accident

GAINESVILLE - A 70-year-old Gainesville man was killed early today in a traffic accident. The state patrol says Pete Pethel died when he was thrown from his car when it wrecked on Old Cornelia Highway about two miles north of Gainesville.

The state patrol's Donna Garrett says, "he lost control, struck a guardrail and an underpass."

The wreck happened about 2:00 a.m.
