GAINESVILLE - A Youth Advisory Council has been set up by the Gainesville City Council which will function much like the Citizens Academy which was established in 2001.

City of Gainesville spokeswoman Catiel Felts says assistant Gainesville High principal Diane Bryant picked 12 students - from grades nine thrugh 12 - to serve on the board.

Each student has been partnered with the head of a city department in an effort for them to learn more about the workings of city government.
