GAINESVILLE - A 22-year-old Gainesville man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing at a birthday party Saturday night that left two people injured.

Gainesville Police Lt. Gary Entrekin says James Walburg was arrested at a Dawsonville Highway apartment complex by officers acting on an anonymous tip.

Lt. Entrekin says Walburg was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with aggravated assault.

Stabbed during the incident, which occurred at the American Legion on Riverside Drive, were 22-year-old Jesse Brock and 25-year-old Kevin Sims, both of Gainesville. Lt. Entrekin says the stabbing apparently stemmed from a two-year-old dispute between Walburg and Brock and that Sims was stabbed when he tried to intervene when Walburg and Brock got into a fight.

Brock and Sims were both still hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and in satisfactory condition early Monday.
