FLOWERY BRANCH - Fires destroyed a mobile home and two cars in two separate incidents near Flowery Branch Monday night - and the car fires were apparently deliberately started.

Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle says the call to the mobile home, located on Lawless Creek Road, came in about 9:40 and that responding units found the dwelling nearly totally engulfed in flames. He says the fire started on the stove after some grease ignited. Cagle says the occupants tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher but that it wouldn't work. He says the date on it was 1977. Cagle says that's a good example of why fire extinguishers need to be kept up to date.

He says there were no injuries, but the occupants, who lost everything, did not have renters insurance.

About 1:45 Tuesday morning, Cagle says two cars were found on fire on Friendship Road near I-985. He says it appears to be a case of arson and is asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in that area about that time to call his office.
