Plans for Dawson drug court moving ahead

GAINESVILLE - Plans for a drug court in Dawson County, patterned after the one here in Hall County, which is starting its fifth year, are still in the works.

Senior Superior Court Judge John Girardeau, who helped implement the Hall County Drug Court four years ago, has met with the Dawson sheriff and county commission chairman about plans for a drug court there.

Judge Girardeau, who took "Senior" judge status upon his retirement in March, hopes the Dawson County Drug Court can be implemented around the first of next year.

He says progress has been slowed by his workload.
