GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Sheriff's Office has stepped up patrols at
Lake Lanier Islands after bomb threats Friday morning.

Capt. Jeff Strickland said deputies searched the entire park and used bomb-sniffing dogs to cover high-use public areas. The resort includes heavily-wooded areas, but also places that attract large crowds such as a water park, golf courses, hotels, etc.

Capt. Strickland says no explosive devices or anything unusual was discovered and operations at the Islands were were never interrupted. He said management decided against closing access to the complex or evacuating it.

He said due to the high volume of visitors at Lake Lanier Islands, the sheriff's office has increased patrols in the area and will be monitoring the situation closely.
