Retired Hall EMA director dies

GAINESVILLE - A retired longtime Hall County Emergency Management Agency Director, Bill Banks, died Saturday.<br> <br> After serving in the Navy during World War II, Banks, a native of Griffin, worked for Colonial Stores for a number of years before moving to Gainesville in the late 1950s. He continued in the grocery business before becoming Hall County Civil Defense Director, a job now known as Emergency Management Agency Director. Banks served in that position for about 30 years until his retirement in the early 1990s. <br> <br> After retiring from Hall County, Banks worked for H&R Block for a number of years, preparing income tax returns. He was active for many years in the Gainesville Lions Club.<br> <br> A private graveside service will be held Monday morning followed at 1:00 Monday afternoon by a memorial service at in the chapel of First Baptist Church on Green Street. <br> <br>
